Some myths from which to choose you project:

Pyramus and Thisbe
Perseus and Andormeda
Theseus and the Minotaur (ariadne)

Cronus (Roman Saturn)
Narcissus
Pygmalion
Phoenix
Uisng on e of the myths above, choose one of the following
projects. You grade will be based on accuracy, completeness,
bibliography, neatness, and originality.
N.B. No late project will be accepted; you may turn them in early
BUT NOT LATE!
1. Impaersonate a major mythological charator, e.g. Daedalus,
Echo, Hercules, etc.
2. Make a comic strup or a book about the major events of one
of the myths.
3. Research a myth and then write a diamante, acrostic, or cinquain
poem about a key mythological character. See Mrs. Lynn for examples.
4. Invent a card game based on "Old Maid" using mythological
charaters/monsters as pair topics.
5. Define each of the following terms and explain where they came
from: Echo, Narcissism, Icarian Sea.
6. Do a report on monsters in mythology and illustrate. Do a
least three different monsters. Possible choices: Hydra, Chimera,
Minotaur.
7. Explain what is meant by mythology: how did myths come into
being and what was their purpose? Select one f the myths above,
write about it, and tell why it did or did not appeal to you.
A complete bibliography is to be included. Use hard sources as well as the internet!

The WHHS Library has MANY mythology books on reserve for your class: use these first! They also have better and more complete versions of the stories that you need. Some good web sources are:

Other possibilities are:
Greek Mythology- Designed as a supplement for a college course, this has short descriptions of good and goddesses. Use Encyclopedia Mythica for more complete information.
Greek Mythology Online- Brief descriptions of gods and goddesses.
Greek Gods and Goddesses- Brief descriptions of the major gods and goddesses, with their Roman names and the symbols usually associated with them.
The Odyssey Online- Part index, part online book, this has a keyword index to important events and people in the Odyssey
http://www.bulfinch.org/- Bulfinch's Mythology on the Web. This is a searchable version of the text (for the print version, we have four copies in the WHHS Library); many good stories.
