A Brief History of Computer Club
The Computer Club was conceived three years ago and divided into two groups: a hardware team and a software team. The goal of the hardware group was to build a functional computer with a case made of LEGO blocks. The club obtained money to fund the project, but due to technicalities such as obtaining the blocks and other difficulties (such as deciding the color of the blocks), the project was discontinued. Meanwhile, the software group decided to write a java script game called Tragdor. Two people who were proficient in java began programming while the remaining members of the software group were assigned to develop graphics for the game. The game's development spanned from the first year to the second year. However, in the second year, the programming team took full control of the game. After a sufficient amount of the game was completed, it was finished and posted on this web site. During the second year of Computer Club, while the software group was creating the above game, the hardware group cancelled their plans to build a LEGO computer and went back to the basics. The hardware group led information sessions on the components of a computer, demonstrated how to build a computer, and disassembled obsolete school computers. Later in the year, they purchased a clear acrylic case which they planned to use when they revived their attempt to build a computer. The rest of the funds which were not used during the LEGO project were used to order new components. In the third year, after the graduation of the original members of the Computer Club, the club was born anew by merging the hardware and software groups, and recruiting members from junior high. The club’s new focus is to develop and maintain a web site, continue learning how to build a functional computer, and install an operating system and software. NEWS FLASH
Our own game, Tragdor (still needs a little refinement), is now online! Play it here...
